Keep the hero video. Lose the bandwidth bill.
A 15MB hero video uses up Premium's 50GB in about 3,300 plays. Flowdrive serves your videos and files from your own domain, with no bandwidth fees. Ever.
The short answer
Updated October 2026
Webflow counts every byte its CDN delivers for your site against the plan: 10GB a month on Basic, 50GB on Premium. The first month over is free. Go over two months running and Webflow adds a bandwidth add-on automatically, from $20/mo for an extra 50GB up to $974/mo for 2.5TB, billed yearly. To bring it down, check Site settings > Site usage to see which files use it, compress images to WebP or AVIF in the Assets panel, and move video and large downloads to another host, whose bytes Webflow doesn't count: YouTube, Vimeo, Cloudflare Stream, or a Marketplace app such as Flowdrive or Vidzflow. Video is usually most of it: a 15MB hero video uses Premium's 50GB in about 3,300 plays.
Six steps, biggest saving first.
In the order that saves the most for the least work. If your pages alone go over the limit, moving the media won't be enough, and step six is where you end up.
- 01
See what is using it
Open Site settings > Site usage. The asset breakdown ranks files by bandwidth and splits it by type: images, video, fonts, scripts. Webflow counts every byte its CDN delivers, bot traffic and 404s included.
- 02
Compress and resize images
In the Assets panel, Compress converts JPG and PNG to WebP or AVIF. It is lossy and replaces the original, so keep a copy, and skip Open Graph images. Re-upload anything over 2,000px at the size it displays. Do the CMS images too.
- 03
Fix the images Webflow can’t resize
Webflow makes smaller versions of inline images for phones, but not of background images or images in rich text. Swap background-image styles for inline images with object-fit, and replace GIFs over 1MB with a muted, looping MP4.
- 04
Move the video off Webflow
Background and self-hosted videos are usually the biggest line. Bytes served by another host don’t count toward Webflow’s total. Options: YouTube or Vimeo (their player and branding), Cloudflare Stream or Bunny (a developer sets it up), or a Webflow Marketplace app such as Flowdrive or Vidzflow.
- 05
Move the big downloads too
PDFs, decks, ZIPs and CMS file fields are served by the same CDN. One popular lead magnet can cost more bandwidth than every page on the site.
- 06
Only then pay for an add-on
If your pages alone still go over, Premium add-ons run from $20/mo for an extra 50GB to $974/mo for 2.5TB in total, billed yearly. Past that, Webflow’s next step is the Team plan at $2,500/mo.
Same Chili Piper site. $2,388 a year, or $65,000. The only thing that changed was traffic.
It's the 3rd of the month.
Your client forwards a Webflow invoice with one line: "What's this $150?"
Nothing on the site changed. The launch video just worked. Webflow forgave the first month over the limit. It doesn't forgive the second.
Now it's your name on the question, and it looks like you didn't see it coming.
What's this $150?
- Launch month ForgivenOver the limit. Webflow lets it go, once. 300GB / 50GB
- Month two +$150/moOver again. +250GB is added for you. 300GB / 50GB
- Every month after +$150/moThe add-on stays, for as long as the video works. 300GB / 50GB

Webflow is brilliant at design and CMS. It was never built to serve video.
And its pricing now says so. Bandwidth is the meter, and since May the meter is half the size.
- May 13, 2026 CMS and Business merge into Premium Business sites go from 100GB to Premium's 50GB. CMS sites keep 50GB and pay more for it.
- June 29, 2026 Most existing sites follow At their next renewal. Sites that went over 50GB in the previous two months get add-ons attached.
- November 16, 2026 Freelancer and Agency Workspaces Client sites move over at their next renewal or billing change. This is the one coming.
Every workaround costs something. Usually the brand.
These are the options our customers tried before they found us, and why each one breaks.
Compress it until it fits
The hero video your client paid for starts looking like 2009. Bandwidth drops, and so does the brand.
Embed it from Vimeo or YouTube
Background loops need a paid Vimeo plan on top of Webflow, and the video still streams from Vimeo's domain with Vimeo's player behind it. YouTube adds its own branding and suggestions.
Wire up S3, R2 or Firebase
It works, for whoever set it up. Buckets, CORS, signed URLs and a bill in another dashboard nobody on the design team can open.
Pay the add-on
A tax on success. The better the launch does, the bigger the line on your client’s invoice.
Move to Enterprise
For Chili Piper, that quote was $65,000 a year. The site didn't need anything Enterprise sells, except more bandwidth.
Serve it from Flowdrive
Upload it, place it from the Flowdrive app inside the Designer, and it plays from your client's own domain. No quality loss, no player chrome, no developer, and no bandwidth bill.
Three steps. No developer.
- 001
Upload
Drag the file into Flowdrive, or into the Flowdrive app inside the Webflow Designer.
launch-film.mp4 · 184MB - 002
Place it
Select an element in the Designer and click Insert Video in the Flowdrive app. For a looping background, copy the embed code with autoplay, muted and loop on, and drop it into an Embed element.
Flowdrive app → Insert Video - 003
It plays from their domain
Served from the client's own subdomain. The Webflow bandwidth meter never sees it.
Video bandwidth on Webflow: 0GB
“We found Flowdrive solves a major issue for enterprise-grade Webflow sites: high traffic and bandwidth usage. Instead of upgrading to an Enterprise plan, use Flowdrive.”
Evgenii Tilipman Tilipman DigitalBuilt for the heavy stuff. Leave the icons where they are.
We price by how often files are opened, not how big they are. A 20MB video is a bargain here; a 20KB icon isn't. Here's the honest split.
- Hero and background video Autoplay, loop and no player chrome.
- Long-form and product video Adaptive streaming that holds up on hotel wifi.
- Downloads and PDFs Brochures, press kits, installers, datasets.
- Client uploads over 10MB Webflow's form uploads stop at 10MB. Ours don't, on any plan.
- Gated files Password or rule-based access, from your own domain.
- Icons, logos and UI images
- Blog thumbnails and small photos
- Anything under a few hundred KB
Small files barely touch your bandwidth. Moving them uses up your plan and saves you nothing.

- Basic plan, fixed price $15.83
- Bandwidth fees$0
Straight answers to the usual questions.
How much bandwidth does Webflow include?
Per site, per month: 1GB on the free Starter plan, 10GB on Basic and 50GB on Premium. Premium can add bandwidth up to 2.5TB in total. The legacy Business plan’s 100GB drops to 50GB when it moves to Premium.
What happens if my Webflow site goes over its bandwidth limit?
The first month over is free: Webflow calls it surge protection. If the site goes over again the next billing month, Webflow upgrades the plan or adds a bandwidth add-on automatically at the start of the following month, sized to the lower of the two months, and charges for it from then on. Annual plans are measured month by month too.
How much do Webflow bandwidth add-ons cost?
On Premium, from $20/mo billed yearly ($30 billed monthly) for an extra 50GB, up to $974/mo billed yearly ($1,460 monthly) for an extra 2.45TB. That is on top of the plan itself. Above 2.5TB a month the site needs the Team plan, $2,500/mo on an annual contract. Prices checked 2026-09-28.
What uses the most bandwidth on a Webflow site?
Video, almost always, then images. A page is a few hundred KB; one play of a 15MB hero video is worth dozens of page views, so 50GB lasts about 3,300 plays. Large PDFs and GIFs add up too. Webflow also counts bots and error responses, which you can limit with robots.txt.
Does converting images to WebP or AVIF reduce Webflow bandwidth?
Yes. Smaller files mean fewer bytes per page view. Use Compress in the Assets panel. The conversion is lossy and can’t be undone, Open Graph images should stay JPG or PNG, and animated AVIF isn’t supported.
Does hosting video somewhere else lower my Webflow bill?
Yes, as long as the file is served by the other host. Webflow only counts what its own CDN delivers. With Flowdrive, the video and files are served from your own domain, and plans are priced by requests, not gigabytes, from $19/mo.
When do the new bandwidth limits apply to my site?
Existing sites in Freelancer and Agency Workspaces move to the new plans at their first renewal on or after 16 November 2026. Other existing sites move at their first renewal after the change reached their account, or when you make a billable change.
